Terms and Conditions – DNS Removals Pty Ltd

These terms and conditions apply to all agreements concerning your request for us to manage the transportation of goods. By booking a move with us, you acknowledge, understand, and agree to these terms and conditions.

1. Definitions

In these terms and conditions, “DNS Removals Pty Ltd,” “us,” “our,” or “we” refers to DNS Removals Pty Ltd (ABN 15617903063). “You” or “your” refers to the authorized person requesting the transportation of goods or similar services to be carried out by us. “Goods” refers to any goods or items you have requested to be transported or arranged for transportation by us.

2. Removal Services

General Provisions

We are not common carriers and do not hold any liability as such. We maintain the discretion to refuse to quote for the transportation of any goods for any particular reason or to refuse the transportation of certain types or classes of goods. Any pick-up/delivery times or dates provided by us are estimates and are not guaranteed. If we are unable to reasonably meet a pick-up/delivery time or date, we reserve the right to amend that time or date prior to the start of the move.

Our services are governed by occupational health and safety regulations, and we expect your items to meet a standard level of cleanliness. We reserve the right to decline to move items that our movers deem dirty. All your items should be packed into sturdy boxes suitable for moving. If the items are deemed too heavy or unsafe for our movers or equipment, we reserve the right to refuse the work.

Local Moves (within the same state)

Pricing for local moves is calculated on an hourly basis, with increments of 30 minutes, and includes GST. Charges commence upon the arrival of our removalists at your location and conclude upon completion of the move at the final destination address.

A call-out fee, quoted prior to your move, applies to all moves and covers our travel expenses to and from the move location. All moves are subject to a minimum charge equivalent to 2 hours of service. Additional charges, such as waste disposal fees or toll charges (if specifically requested by you), will be borne by you.

Please note that all estimates given verbally (e.g., over the phone) are not to be considered as fixed costs.

3. Specialist Items

If you have items falling under any of the categories below, please inform us at the time of booking:

  • Double Door or Commercial Refrigerators
  • Pianos or Organs (note: grand pianos or pianolas are not moved by us)
  • Marble-made items
  • Glass table tops or cabinets
  • Pool or Snooker Tables
  • Large pot plants that have not been cleaned
  • Animal enclosures, fish tanks, etc.
  • Any items heavier than 100kg
  • Any items larger than 3 meters in length
  • Sensitive and/or delicate items such as fishing rods

We reserve the right to refuse to move any of the listed items if we were not informed of such items at the time of booking. Additional charges may apply for moving these items.

4. Your Obligations and Warranties

You guarantee that the information you have provided to us, which we use to assess the resources necessary to carry out the work, is accurate. You warrant that, in entering into this agreement, you are the owner of the goods or the authorized agent of the goods’ owner.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you or an authorized person is present at all times during the loading and unloading of goods. We will not be held responsible or liable for any incorrect collection of goods, or any loss of or damage to goods if you or a person authorized by you is not present during these processes.

Upon completion of the move, you must conduct an inspection of the goods. Any loss or damage that you consider was caused by us must be reported to our office within 48 hours after the completion of the move. We will not be liable for any loss or damage not reported within this timeframe.

5. Delivery

We are obligated to deliver the goods only to you or a person authorized by you in writing to receive the goods. If we cannot deliver the goods for reasons beyond our control, such as no authorized person being present to receive them, or if we cannot access the premises, we reserve the right to unload the goods into a warehouse. Additional charges for storage and subsequent re-delivery of the goods will apply. In such cases, we will make every effort to contact you for alternate instructions.

6. Cancellation Policy

DNS Removals allows you to cancel, reschedule, or put on hold any local move (within the same state) at least 24 hours before the planned arrival time without incurring a fee, and your deposit will be fully refunded. If such changes are made within 24 hours of the expected arrival time, you will be charged a minimum of 2 hours plus a call-out fee. This will be billed to the same credit card used for the deposit unless you provide a different card at the time of cancellation.

Should DNS Removals need to cancel your move for any reason, we will fully refund your deposit. However, our quotes are subject to availability at the time they were provided. There is no guarantee of availability if booking is made later. If we cannot accommodate your preferred time slot due to lack of availability, we will provide a full refund.

7. Payment and Deposits

Local Moves (within the same state)

  • DNS Removals requires a $100 deposit to secure your local booking. This deposit is non-refundable, subject to the cancellation policy in clause 6.
  • The balance (amount due less the deposit) must be paid in full, either in cash or by credit card, upon completion of the move. It is your responsibility to ensure payment is readily available in one of these forms.
  • Should you choose to pay with a credit card, you give DNS Removals explicit authorization to process the due amount (using the credit card provided by you or the one used for the deposit if no other card is provided) within one business day of the move’s completion, regardless of any disputes. Any concerns or disputes about your move or the charges should be directed to our customer service team at contact@dnsremovals.com.au.
  • If you are not present when the move is completed, you authorize us to charge the amount due to the credit card used for the deposit.

Default and Recovery

  • In the event that payment of the remaining balance is not received or cannot be processed within 24 hours of the move’s completion, the amount due will be passed to a debt collection agency. You will be subject to the agency’s fees plus interest charges as per the Penalty Interest Rates Act (QLD) plus 2%.
  • You will be liable for any additional costs incurred due to overdue payments, including recovery costs, agency fees, and reasonable legal fees.

Additional Costs

  • Additional charges may apply for extra services like bubble wrapping or shrink wrapping. These charges will be discussed with you and noted on the job sheet prior to the move.
  • Upon unloading your goods, DNS Removals reserves the right to retain some goods until the final payment is made.

We accept payments via cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express), and bank transfers. We do not accept cheques unless pre-authorized.

8. Vehicle Sizes

DNS Removals strives to quote the most suitable vehicle for your move based on the information provided over the phone or via our online inquiry form. We will not be liable if the truck provided is insufficient for a single move and multiple moves are necessary.

Please inform us of any loading dock height clearance. Our large trucks require a minimum height of 3.7m, and our smaller trucks require a minimum height of 3.2m.

9. Method of Carriage

DNS Removals reserves the right to carry the goods via any reasonable route and means. You agree to indemnify us for any delay or damage resulting from the actions of our employees. Any provisions in these conditions that limit our liability also apply to our employees, subcontractors, and their employees.

10. Insurance & Loss/Damage to Property

DNS Removals has Goods in Transit Insurance and Public Liability Insurance, covering your goods if our removalists are found to be negligent. However, we strongly recommend securing additional insurance for instances when our removalists are not negligent. This insurance can be obtained from your current provider.

11. Transfer of Risk and Ownership

Upon the successful delivery of your goods, the associated risks are transferred to you. We retain a general lien over any goods we receive from you until any money owed to us under this contract is paid in full.

12. Private Removals and Storage – Damage or Loss

You are required to inform our office in writing within 24 hours of job completion if any of your goods are lost or damaged. We hold no responsibility for damage caused by insufficient packing or unpacking unless it was done by us or our subcontractors.

Unfortunately, we cannot cover electronics, as these items are considered high-risk and susceptible to damage beyond our control during transportation.

Additionally, DNS Removals Pty Ltd is not a plumbing service. We cannot be held responsible for any issues arising from customers requesting us to connect appliances such as fridges or washing machines. These connections should be carried out by qualified professionals to ensure safety and compliance with relevant standards.

For minor cosmetic damage, DNS Removals Pty Ltd will compensate you $50 per item. Regardless of any damages or loss, full payment must be made once your goods are unloaded.

13. Commercial Removals and Storage – Damage or Loss

If the move is for business, trade, profession, or occupation, this clause will apply. We are only liable for any loss or damage that can be proven beyond reasonable doubt to be the direct result of our negligence. In such cases, our liability will be capped at $100 per item or package or $1,000 for all goods moved or stored under this agreement, whichever is less.

14. Packing Materials

Packing materials are not included in our standard service and are billed separately. You can order boxes and other packing materials directly from our company.

It is your responsibility to properly discard used packing materials such as butcher’s paper and cardboard boxes.

15. Packing and Unpacking Services

DNS Removals Pty Ltd provides professional packing and unpacking services. Each booking requires a minimum of two packers/unpackers.

  • Rescheduling or Cancellations: Any rescheduling or cancellations within 24 hours of the booked start time will result in a full charge.

Please note:

  • It is your responsibility to ensure that adequate boxes and packing materials are available for the service. If our services cannot proceed due to insufficient packing materials, we will refund your payment for the packing service.
  • DNS Removals reserves the right to refuse packing or unpacking services if the hygiene level of the property is not deemed reasonable by our team.
